Given the brief encounters we have with our healthcare providers, learn how to maximize each visit by sharing information that is current, concise and relevant.
It’s helpful to go prepared to the doctor’s office, whether for an acute illness or a routine annual exam. Remember to take a list of your medical history, medications, allergies and—most of all—your reason for the visit. State clearly what is bothering you; for example, “I’m having chest discomfort” or “I’m here for my yearly physical”. Also emphasize the symptoms that you are experiencing.
